Defending the Faith Pt. 3

Evidential Apologetics - Apologetics Part 3

Evidential apologetics deals with providing historical evidence to support the truth of the claims of Christianity. This method often emphasizes the miracles, the resurrection, and
the reliability of the Bible. Three main types of evidence are historical evidence that examines the documents, eyewitness accounts, and archaeological findings. Scientific
evidence uses discoveries that align with and support the biblical narratives. Finally, the
miracles are documented as evidence of divine intervention. Many incidences support
this theory. For instance, the empty tomb is one such historical record. In addition, there
are eyewitness accounts or testimonies from multiple sources of people reporting
seeing Jesus alive after his crucifixion, as well as the accounts in the Bible itself. Lastly,
there are the changed lives that are mentioned as ordinary men whose encounter with
Jesus forever changing their lives many of whom died for their faith. Lee Strobel, a
former investigative journalist and author of “The Case for Christ” presents evidence
supporting Christianity. The truth is that we find increased support for Christianity and
although some people may find questions in the Bible, the support clearly leans toward
a strengthening of Biblical truth. Please remember that we do not need convincing
evidence to experience the love of Jesus Christ we simply need a childlike faith that
puts our trust and hope in him.
