Identity Theft
We often hear about identity theft and it usually involves a computer or cell phone. One of the fascinating stories of the Bible is the story of John the Baptist. He was Jesus's cousin and had started his ministry before Christ came on the scene. The scripture says that John was out baptizing people and telling them about the coming Messiah. It would've been very easy for John to feel that his ministry was just as important or as significant as the ministry of Christ. However, he knew that wasn't the case as illustrated in the scripture, "some of the disciples came to John and said that one that you referred to as the Messiah is also baptizing people and everybody is going to him instead of coming to us." John replied, "you yourselves know how plainly I told you, I am not the Messiah. I am only here to prepare the way for him." John very clearly understood his identity in life. What about you? What is your purpose in life? I believe God has given each of us an important mission in life. We must stay focused on what that mission is because it always involves helping others and sharing God's love with them. If you ever forget that, it will be very easy to make life all about you instead of the ministry that God has called us to. May this coming year be a life changing year for you and for those who you share God's love with.
Blessings,
Pastor Steve
