How's Your Life

How’s Your Life?
I am a blessed man in so many ways. I grew up with four brothers, a sister, and two loving parents. Things weren’t always easy. My parents weren’t always Christians, but they were determined to raise the six of us with honesty, character, and love. My sister had some mental and physical issues that would challenge Mom and Dad regularly. We had one car which Dad would often take to his job in Columbus, leaving Mom at home all day as a cook, cleaner, and referee. I would like to blame my brothers, but we were all challenges for Mom. Dad would often come home from work and head off to play ball and later coach, once again leaving Mom at home with the kids. Dad worked for an airline manufacturer in Columbus, but after 16 years he was laid off and still trying to provide for all of us. Mom became a master chef on a sparse budget. Dad was raised to work and receiving support bothered him. In 1972 he opened his own business that would not only provide a family income but would eventually employ every one of us boys in the housing business. We made wonderful friendships with work associates and some amazing customers. As for our spiritual life, Mom had always taken us boys to church and eventually, our entire family became Christians. I watched my parents give away much to be a blessing to others. So, here’s the point, life is a journey and often takes us to our limit. Our family of eight is now a family of four and losing a loved one is something you never fully recover from. Some days are so lonely even with others around. I find that holding on to God’s promises like those in John 14 is often the only thing to help me keep going. I believe I will see my family again someday because we have put our trust in Jesus, and I want to encourage you to do the same. May this Christmas season allow you to reflect on your precious memories and serve as a reminder of the love that God has for all of us.

Trust in God, hold on, and be blessed my friends.
