Casual and Corrupt Religion Malachi 1:12–13

Casual and Corrupt Religion Malachi 1:12–13
The problem with the people Malachi calls out runs deeper than poor sacrifices—it is a heart
issue.
The priests say, “What a burden!” regarding worship. What should have been a privilege became
a chore. Reverence was replaced with routine, and devotion with duty.
This reveals a dangerous progression:
1. Doubt God’s love
2. Lose reverence for God
3. Offer God less than He deserves
4. Grow weary of worship itself
5. Drift away without even realizing it.
This is not just ancient Israel—it is a timeless warning. It is the hardening of the heart. This is a
clear example of people seeking comfort in life. They seek satisfaction that will never be
realized. If God is not first, something else is, and that is idolatry.
Casual and corrupt religion leads to separation from God and ends up in spiritual death. God
lovingly warns us that we make the proper adjustments before it is too late.
Stay faithful, my friends. I hope to see you on Sunday.
