The Great Judge

“The Great Judge”
The Bible refers to Jesus as being the great judge. In fact, the scripture says,
“And he has commanded us to preach everywhere and to testify that Jesus is the one appointed by God to be the judge of all—the living and the dead.” — Acts 10:42 (NLT)
Paul also wrote: “I solemnly urge you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who will someday judge the living and the dead when he appears to set up his Kingdom.” — 2 Timothy 4:1 (NLT)
What does this mean? If Jesus is going to be the judge, what will he base his judgment on?
Although He will have the final say, what about judging your own life? Take an honest look at the life you are living. Are there things you know you shouldn’t be doing? Are there things God has given you to do that you are neglecting? Don’t put off peace with Christ. Confess those things to him and ask for his forgiveness and his power to keep you from falling into the enemy's trap. No one will escape His judgment.
The “quick” refers to those who are alive, and the “dead” to those who have died. Every person will ultimately answer to God. Judgment will be righteous.
Human judgment can be mistaken, biased, or incomplete. Christ knows the heart and judges perfectly. This should affect how we live today. Personal judgment should apply only to each of us. We are not to judge others.
Knowing that Christ will judge us should produce holy living and faithful service. Paul
connected this truth to the urgency of preaching the gospel. Don’t miss out by refusing to
surrender your selfishness to God. Read 1 Corinthians 10:13 and decide today how you will live. If life feels too overwhelming, pray first, then talk to a Christian friend. Whatever you do, don’t delay salvation.
