A Challenging and Blessed Week in Kentucky
Our mission team recently traveled to Jackson, Kentucky, to serve at Mount Carmel
School, a special place that welcomes students from around the world who may not
otherwise have access to an education. In addition to their academic studies, students
are also given the opportunity to learn about the love of Jesus.
During the week, our team tackled the demanding task of removing old single-pane
steel windows set in concrete and replacing them with new thermal-pane windows. I
was incredibly proud of the dedication and perseverance shown by everyone. Each day,
the team worked from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in heavy humidity, with temperatures that often
felt close to 97 degrees.
Austin, Ben, and Luke were a tremendous help as they carried lumber and windows and
also replaced a back door.
The week brought its share of challenges, including several storms. One evening, after
the power and Wi-Fi went out, we gathered in a dark room to sing Christian songs with
guitar music, thanks to the Burns family, and to share a meaningful time of prayer. For
me, that moment became the highlight of the entire trip.
I am deeply grateful for all that God allowed us to accomplish and for the faithful, willing
helpers He has blessed our church with.
Looking ahead, we plan to travel to Winchester, Virginia, in September to help build a
youth room. If you would like to be part of this next mission opportunity, please let me
know.
Blessings, my friends. I look forward to seeing you Sunday.
